Order Your Own Jaw-Dropping Fixed Picture Windows

Are you familiar with fixed picture windows? Here at Florida Engineered Glass Corp, we have exactly what you need to ensure your home has the best features you can be proud of. We take pride in all of the hurricane windows and doors Miami.

Get Your Home The Window It Needs

Picture windows are appropriately named, because they are large, fixed panes with low profile frames to maximize your view. Since they’re fixed panes, they are stationary, and can’t move or open. Picture windows are wide and usually set in the middle, sometimes with other smaller windows on either side. If you have a beautiful exterior view, want to see more of your yard, or want to enhance the lighting or aesthetic of your home, picture windows can be the right solution.

What Is A Fixed Picture Window?

Fixed windows are typically used for openings that are larger or where an operable window is not required. They are used to expand the view and bring in more daylight into your home or business. They are an excellent choice for living rooms, dining rooms, master bedrooms and where ventilation is not a concern. They can be fabricated square or in various architectural shapes and sizes.

While picture windows can sometimes be by themselves, they are commonly used in combination with additional windows to create an attractive configuration. Just like there are different configurations of picture windows, there are also different places you could put them. It depends on your home, your view, and your current windows. With that said, there are a few areas where picture windows work best.

Picture windows have many advantages, starting with an expansive view. Because they are not mulled, they give you an unhindered view of your front, back, or side yard. It’s a great way to show off your landscaping or outdoor scenery. Picture windows also let in lots of natural light, making your room appear brighter and more appealing.

Window Styles to Know & Choose From

At Florida Engineered Glass Corp. in Miami, we know that hurricanes can be as strong as an atom bomb and their energy can be highly destructive. This unforgiving force of nature can cause damage that you can’t imagine. Whether you talk about residential spaces or commercial spaces, a particular segment of your building, which is highly susceptible to damage is your non-impact windows. Hurricanes carry along the debris and hurl it through your building’s non-impact windows. Of course, no one wants it to happen to their house or commercial space and get trapped inside while broken glass windows fling throughout their space. So, it is always better to go for the impact window styles, which will provide you with the safety and security against these storms.

If you’re looking for impact windows Miami locals trust, Florida Engineered Glass Corp. is the place for you. But before you pick the windows, here are some basic terms that you need to know. We want to make sure to provide you with the best quality impact windows for your space.

Importance of installing impact windows

You never know what nature is about to bring to your doorsteps. Sometimes it brings such strong forces of energy, which result in destruction. You may not stop those forces of energy, but you can put your best efforts to protect yourself and your loved ones.

The fact is that whenever such a damage is about to occur, windows of a building are the weakest segment to handle the consequences of a storm. And, if you have installed non-impact windows in your home or office, the chances are that these will not be able to handle the pressure of the debris that a hurricane brings along.

On the other hand, impact windows are made in such a manner that they are tested with rigorous stress to ensure the strongest protection and safety. Make sure you choose an impact window Miami brand residents know and trust.

The importance of installing impact windows is that they are capable of resisting the flying debris that comes along with a storm. This is one of the major steps to protect a home or any building space from damage or wind infiltration. If the debris will be prevented from penetrating into your building, it will not result in the formation of an internal pressure, hence providing you complete protection.

Some impact window styles to look for

Here are some designs and styles of impact windows that you can choose from:

       Casement windows: These types of windows swing open just like a car door. These windows provide your home excellent ventilation. The best part is that they don’t require the cumbersome rails which are otherwise the necessity of non-impact windows.

       Fixed windows: Just from the name, you can sense what kind of windows these are. These are fixed to the wall and don’t have the ability to pivot. These types of windows are best suited for your living room, dining room or master bedroom as well. Not only this window will offer you a wide open view of the brilliant scenery surrounding your home, but also it will allow a lot of beautiful natural light enter into your space.

       Horizontal rolling These windows have a sliding glass and that’s what grabs the attention at first place. These unique designs allow you to let a breeze in quite easily.

Now that you know some of the basic types of impact windows, you can decide which impact window Miami would work best with.

Benefits of Impact Glass

There are many different advantages that come with Impact glass. For example, some of these advantages include cutting costs on your power bill, cutting down on outside noise coming in, deterring intruders, and lowering the amount  of damage that can come from hurricane weather. Best known for its functions on windows and doors, impact glass is able to replace the need for hurricane shutters as long as there is proper impact window installation. But impact glass isn’t just great in hurricane weather. Having impact glass installed in your home has a lot of benefits during normal weather as well, as it can help secure the home from any potential shattered glass and can protect against potential intruders as well, as impact glass does not shatter as easily as regular glass. Think about this situation- an intruder attempts to enter your home or business, and they are unable to break the impact glass easily. This will likely cause them to abandon the effort.

Noise Canceling Windows

If you’re ever been abruptly awakened by a loud neighbor when planning a luxurious sleep on a Sunday morning, or live in a busy urban area where you are constantly being bombarded by traffic and noise pollution, then you will recognize the advantages of windows that help to block out noise. Maybe you reside in a suburban neighborhood where houses are all being built closer together and in closer proximity to highways. There is an expanding demand for sound-reduction solutions for homes, as noise complaints such as those discussed above has become more and more typical. The answer to all of these problems are impact windows. As a homeowner, one of the things that you look most forwards to when coming home is being able to have a place where you can quietly relax whenever you want to. Although it’s rare that somebody picks impact windows with only the goal of noise reduction in mind, it is still a fantastic benefit that you should keep in mind when choose windows for your next project.

Need Commercial Storefront Windows That Are Hurricane Ready?

We have finally entered the Spring season. What does that mean? It means you are running out of time to get prepared before storm season hits. Does your business have storefront impact windows protecting it? At Florida Engineered Glass Corp. we are here to ensure that you and your place of business are protected. We specialize in impact window installation and are located in Miami.

Get Windows That Will Protect

When it comes to retail and commercial storefront windows and doors, it’s practically necessary to go impact. When a hurricane hits and there is no impact product surrounding a retail or commercial store location, then the results can be devastating. Nobody wants to have to deal with the aftermath of a hurricane, especially when it comes to cleaning up the business location and getting all new windows and doors. That is why the best course of action to take is to get guaranteed hurricane protection with impact-resistant windows and doors.

So what is resistant glass? These products are considered as strong and resilient as they are because it all comes down to the hurricane resistant glass that they are composed of. The impact windows and doors consist of the double glazed pane with an aluminum frame to create sufficient stability and strength. There are layers of glass with a plastic film keeping them in place. So, even if the outside layer were to crack, the other layers will remain unaffected because of the film.

Get Storefront Impact Windows

With similar reasons for choosing hurricane resistant impact windows and doors at residential locations, retail and commercial settings can also benefit significantly from having high impact resistant products.

One of the more apparent benefits of switching out current windows and doors at a retail or commercial location with ones that are a high impact is that the change can protect the whole store from the effects of a hurricane. Tropical storms and hurricanes can leave horrific results, especially on homes, businesses, and grounds that do not have the proper hurricane-resistant materials. If traditional, original windows and doors are left supporting the location and a hurricane hits, then it is highly likely that the glass will be all over the place afterward. Not only can this be a tedious mess to clean up, but the debris can also damage essential materials, products, and the store’s interior.

Another significant advantage of having impact windows and doors in the home is that these impact products can significantly reduce break-ins and shoplifting. These high impact windows and doors are so thick and virtually unbreakable that heavy objects cannot even break the glass open.

Hurricane Window Design Trends in 2019

As 2019 moves in, so do different trends in window design. For 2019 and beyond, the forecast for windows is larger units with an unobstructed viewing field, with dark-hued, minimal frames. Shapes are square and rectilinear, and the overall aesthetic is totally modern. Host of Sabine’s New House, designer and builder Sabine Schoenberg notes that “the move towards modern…  clean, and unfussy… is here to stay.” Windows are an important part of a home’s aesthetic, so read on to learn more about window design trends for your next home remodel to keep your home updated and modern! Florida Engineered Glass Corp. is one of the top impact window manufacturers who provides the trendiest designs in hurricane windows and doors Miami homeowners love. Call us today for your hurricane window needs!

Trends in Window Design This Year

There are a few major, clear trends in window design that is here to stay in 2019. Architects are mulling windows together and occasionally mixing shapes in order to achieve the large window units that home buyers want. It depends on the weight of the glass when it comes to making an inoperable window larger than one that operates. For larger windows, such as in living areas, fixed windows are generally fine. South Florida Millwork vice president Joe LeFore notes that “everybody wants more glass and less frame,” and that “Bigger is better.” Florida Engineered Glass Corp., who provides hurricane windows and doors Miami homeowners trust, has seen that bigger windows with minimalist frames is a clear trend that is going to be here to stay for a while. We even occasionally do away with grids and muntins to increase the viewing area of the window. Moreover, while screens are always offered as an option, many people simply don’t want to have screens and don’t need the hassle of storing something away that they won’t be using, which is why screens are going away.

We Are Top Impact Window Manufacturers

When it comes to frames, painted metallic frames are a major trend, and the trend towards black frames on both the interior and exterior of windows continues to be a top trend. Painted frames are preferred over an actual metal frame, due to the fact that while home buyers may enjoy the look of a metal frame, it’s a concern that they may tire of the look in a few years and having an actual metal frame is a commitment. Moreover, aluminum windows are also costly to thermal break. The palette for other darker colors is also getting larger as they become more popular. Wood is popular in darker colored frames such as dark brown, barn red, and dark greens. While keeping costs in line is often at odds with trends in production building, Philadelphia architect Jim Wentling will often utilize smaller square windows as accents in Craftsman-style home, or in a ranch-style home accent with a ribbon window.

Hurricane Glass Windows Can Save You Money on Home Insurance

Who doesn’t love saving money on insurance? The experts at Florida Engineered Glass Corp know how to make that happen. Our answer: hurricane glass windows. Since we are in the winter months, now is the best time to incorporate these powerful windows into your home before storm season hits in the summer. We promise our customers will not be disappointed by our impact window Miami.

It is the Time to Save Money

No matter where you live in the state, it is appropriate to take a look at your homeowner’s insurance policy. You need to be fully aware of what type of coverage you have and whether or not you need additional protection from hurricanes. If you are a homeowner who lives near the beaches, you must consider hurricane insurance. If this is the case, check to see what discount you may be eligible for. You can trust our impact window Miami.

Discounts for Hurricane Glass Windows

If you don’t own them already, consider implementing a hurricane glass window. In hurricane-prone areas like Miami, this safety step will mitigate damage and insurance costs, so insurance agents often offer savings for such upgrades. Some hurricane-risk areas even legally require that protected home discounts be available to homeowners.

Windows are one of the most cost-effective updates to the home, and they generally earn the highest return on insurance discounts. This is because openings in the home are some of the most vulnerable points, and the glass from a broken window poses an additional threat. So, by updating them, you are reducing the potential damage insurers will have to pay for.

We suggest you contact your insurer before you make home upgrades to discuss what you will need to do to qualify for discounts, as the requirements and value will vary depending on where you live and which insurer you use.

Installing impact-resistant windows can save you a few hundred dollars a month, or even more than $10,000 per year, depending on your area and your insurance provider. On top of that, these types of changes will keep your home more protected against costly repairs from hurricane damage. If you update all home openings to be reinforced or hurricane-proof, you can often get a much larger discount for the combined strength. Sometimes you can cut your premiums almost in half.

We even suggest installing hurricane-resistant doors. These will help keep winds from adding more wind forces to your home, as well as garage door and skylight upgrades, and retrofitting of other potential leak points. Your insurer can tell you what the requirements are for your home.

The insurance discounts will continue annually, after a 1-time expense to reinforce your home. Talk to your insurance provider, and calculate the overall savings per year compared to the cost of the updates. Often, you will find they pay for themselves quickly, as you continue to save money.

Install Our Impact Window Miami

At Florida Engineered Glass Corp. we genuinely care about the safety of your home and family. We also want to ensure that you get the discounts you deserve with hurricane glass windows. We offer the best hurricane windows and doors Miami, Florida! Our variety of impact products will keep you satisfied and your house protected.  When it comes time to prepare for the next hurricane, get a step ahead of the game and call us for a free estimate on our impact window installation.

A Look At The Growth Trend For Impact Rated Windows

Hurricanes are a regular threat to Florida, especially areas like Miami, every year. It has been forecast that the frequency and power of these hurricanes will continue to increase. This means that the need for high impact rated windows will also increase. It’s dangerous for weak windows to be subjected to high-velocity winds. They can shatter and increase to the catastrophe by adding flying glass to the mix of wind and rain and other flying debris. These sturdy-framed, multi-pane products can save you money and ensure peace of mind in the midst of a devastating hurricane. In terms of value, impact-resistance windows account for around 10% of the market for windows and doors. Both are expected to continue to increase in the coming years due to the forecast of increased frequency and power of hurricanes in Florida. The main reason for this is their ability to mitigate storm-related damage to residential and business properties. It doesn’t help that four of the top five costliest hurricanes in US history have happened in the past 15 years. Be sure to look into Florida Engineered Glass’s impact window installation to cut down on the chance of a disaster getting even worse and costlier.

What Drives the Growth of This Product?

There are several factors which drive the growth of impact window installation, such as increasingly popular stringent statewide building codes, strong construction and population growth in the southern US, Heightened storm risk, and the array of benefits for homeowners who aren’t even in storm-prone areas. An example of these more stringent building codes are the ones introduced in 1992 following hurricane Andrew, and in 2005 following hurricane Katrina. The North Atlantic Basin is a prime area for cataclysmic weather conditions to hinder or completely halt construction work. The NOAA has predicted an increasing number of tropical cyclones and hurricanes with levels unseen since 2012’s hurricane Sandy. Not only can impact resistant window provide benefits against storms, but they can also help against burglars, provide ambient noise reduction, energy efficiency, UV light protection, and discounts to your insurance premiums.

More Info on Impact Rated Windows

Traditionally, these windows are manufactured from metal, which is thought to be more capable of withstanding physical damage in the case of high winds and wind-blown debris. Many times, manufacturers use aluminum to be in line with the strict Dade County specifications for high-velocity hurricane impact resistance without sacrificing high-value aesthetic appearance. Recently, many have been using reinforced vinyl products due to their attractiveness to homeowners which stems from their lower cost and safety. Thanks to this, the sales of plastic impact windows has been projected at an increase in market, and it’s believed that they will even surpass the sales of metal-based products by 2020.
